affordable health insurance Affordable health insurance means different things in different countries. In America, affordable health insurance usually goes hand in hand with high co-pays. Today a 23-year-old friend was riding his dirt bike in the desert with my roommate. While flying over a straight whoop session he was kicked out sideways, losing control and crashed hard on one of his ankles. I am not sure which one because he is still in the hospital and has to undergo ankle surgery tomorrow. He was wearing all the proper riding gear including boots but the fall was dramatic enough to break multiple bones in his foot and completely rip the connecting tendon.

From what I was told, he couldn’t get up for twenty minutes before having to ride side saddle back to the truck. From there he was taken to the hospital. The problem is he doesn’t have health insurance and surgery is not exactly cheap. I can only imagine the stress he is going through from his injury and the idea of paying the massive bill. To me this doesn’t seem right but is the way the American healthcare system is set up. Affordable health insurance needs to be made available for all coverage.
